Great plugin! I hope to see next release soon ;)

Anyway, the plugin seems to report a wrong number of version. It should be 0.9b instead of 0.1

Yea you are right :) i forgot to update version number in description

@zeroedge
I see posts are showing up now, you probably figured it out :)
Automatic cron will trigger every 1 hour but when someone visits your blog. For example cron is scheduled to run in 15:00, it will be triggered by the first visit after 15:00.
So if you install plugin now you should expect first posts to show up 1h later upon first visit.
If you like you can trigger it by hand. Simply visit http://yourblog.com/wp-content/plugins/gc/cron.php

thanks for comments all!

I’ve put this comment earlier, but I think it was a problem or something.

I love it, but I would like to know if it’s possible to have the original link’s URL on my post

something like this:

“you cand find original article [here]” and on [here] to be a link to the original article :)

This looks like a great program, but I have installed it, added lots of feeds to it, and nothing seems to happen. I don’t have access to cron, so I installed the plug-in wp-cron and turned it on. should it trigger regardless, or am i missing something here.. thanks

Nice plugin Vladimir.

I have two questions:

1) Is it possible to have source link to every news (see post of chris).
2) Is it possibile to change number of line (or words) that appears in every news (see post of leksa),

Thanks.

Good work Vladimir.

Ok, now there is “Source: [Link]” at the end of every post.
But i can’t change number of lines (or words) that appear in every news, it’s very important for me.
I think that will include in next version.
Thanks a lot Vladimir :))

May 25th, 2007 at 2:19 pm

It is possible to include that feature but, since every RSS Feed has limited text in description you can only expect to have option to lower number of words.

Feature with source link took me very little amount of time to do, thats why I did it now. This one I will do in next few days when i get some more time.

Is it possible to have any links within the feed edited so that any external link has the taregt added to be “_blank” so that a new window opens rather than opening in the current window?

Great plugin.

Ok all :)

Since I am reciving bunch of email-s every day with feature requests, wishes etc to support all of those features and to give quality service I have decided to build commercial version of the plugin, development has already started.

It will have all the features free version has but it will be much more customizable and it will have several other features free version doesn’t have. Some of those features will be Related Posts, AdSense in post, AdSense click tracking and lots more. It will be full scale scraping bundle which will be installable with 2 clicks and you will no longer be required to configure it every time but simply copy old configuration over and over.

I know commercial version announcement is not very popular but I will try and make it very cheap, price I currently have in my mind is 15-25US. I think that is very very cheap.

Don’t hate me, I simply don’t have that much time for free projects with 60 E-Mail’s/day about it.

Avatar

Vladimir,

If it is to be commercialised, it would also need to have more options.

As I have requested - open links in new window.

Another would be whether to include the source link or not, for example, I take Google News feeds which already include the link to the source article. I don’t particularly want the additional feed link.

I’ve also come across a feed which when I use the plugin doesn’t generate correct links which are a pain to manually edit.

Regards

Gary O

PS - I believe you should still make a free plugin with perhaps not as many features as those of a commercial release.

2Alex:
wp-o-matic - 0.2beta also does not work adequately, feedwordpress - does not do necessary functions, a wp-autoblog - OK, smartrss - it’s good with small completions, sapid - it’s for fans(imho).
ContentGen+ it is a free plug-in and should develop.

I know you dont provide support for it but can you atleast let me know what version of WP you have gotten it to work in with no added headache I just tried it on
2.0.6
and on
2.1

on 2.0.6 when i ctivate it it just goes to blank sceen on me and on 2.1 it looks like it going to work then i go to “New Feed Sources” tab and I get a bunch of php text

prefix . “gcdb”; $sql = “DELETE from $table_name WHERE id = “.$_POST['id']; $wpdb->query($sql); die(’deleted!’); } $feedhelp = ‘To set Feed URL please type in the full url to feed you wish to include.’; $categoryhelp = ‘This is the category in which this feed\’s contents will be insterted to.’; $titletaghelp = ‘Disabled.
Please ignore this field, new feature will be included in next releases.’; $storytaghelp = ‘Disabled.
Please ignore this field, new feature will be included in next releases.’; if (!empty($_POST )) : gc_feeds_insert($_POST); ?>

so if you could tell me the version of wp this works with it would be greatly appreciated

Vladimir,

You plugin sounds really nice. Thank you for a wonder ful tool.

I have set it up on my site and run a manual cron job to wp-content/cg/cron.php file hourly but I don’t see any post being created from the feeds that I setup under CG.

The email result from my cron job states the following:
/bin/sh: line 1:
/var/chroot/home/content/p/p/a/myaccount/html/efilmpro/wp-content/plugins/gc/cron.php: Permission denied

I don’t know much about cron jobs, but do you know what went wrong here.

I can’t wait to get your wonderful plugin working. Thanks again and any help on this will be very much appreciated.

Hi Vladimir,
i searched for a working wp-plugin to import an atom-feed from blogger.com - wp-o-matic and so on dont work.

Now i tried ContentGen++ - its very… simple… and does not work for me?! It tried to import articles from my blogger.com-Blog into my wordpress, but contentgen++ dont import these ! I tried more than 3 times to call the cron.php - but it dont help…

Maybe, you’ve an Idea?

(And you’ve got a mistake… on the options-page you wrote “Cron should be set to trigger (visit) fallowing url http://www.myblog.com/wp-content/gc/cron.php (where myblog.com is your blogs domain) atleast every hour.”, but the correct path is (imho?) /wp-content/plugins/gc/cron.php. Or will this path rewritten by the permalinks?

Vladimir,
Hello. I found your blog as I was attempting to locate a resolution that I am having with wp_smartrss. I get an implode warning error as I attempt to stream the rss feed into my blog. It occurs at this line: $data = implode(”", file($filename)); I think my host may be requiring a cURL for security reasons. Can you help with this? Will ContenGen+ have more likely success? Thanks for any info. I am stuck manually entering content.

Do you have any update available for Wodpress 2.3
The existing plugin is not working with Wordpress 2.3

[Table 'mydb.wp_categories' doesn't exist]
SELECT cat_ID, cat_name FROM wp_categories WHERE ( link_count = 0 OR category_count != 0 OR ( link_count = 0 AND category_count = 0 ) ) ORDER BY category_count DESC

There are plenty other splog solutions out there, i am sure one of them will fit your needs.
